Safety
Another key factor in the success of ONYX Construction is the safety program. Based on the philosophy that nothing is more important than the health and safety of ONYX employees and their subcontractors, safety is an integral component of every activity.
From development and planning, sales and estimating to design and construction,
all ONYX employees are involved in safety. With ONYX’ full-time Safety Director, a common goal of safety is shared from senior management to the newest apprentice.
The expectation for safe work performance starts with the new-hire safety orientations and continues with safety training throughout an employee’s career with ONYX.
An annual Superintendents’ meeting is held to review trends and develop methods for enhancing safety protocol. Safe work performance is emphasized and incentivized for all employees.
As a result of the fully integrated safety philosophy, ONYX has a safety culture that positively impacts the profitability of the company. As the company has experienced significant market expansion, insurance costs are contained.
“Every employee goes home safe every day” isn’t just a saying on a t-shirt. This is a core value that underlies and drives every plan, task and action. Safety has been, and will continue to be, a key factor in the success of our projects and employees at ONYX Construction.
Safety and Health Policy
ONYX Construction believes that no job or no task is more important than worker health and safety. If a job represents a potential safety or health threat, every effort is made to plan a safe way to do the task. Every procedure must be a safe procedure. Shortcuts in safe procedures by either foremen or workers will not be tolerated. If a worker observes any unprotected job, which may pose a potential threat to their health or safety, he or she must inform management and management who will take appropriate action. All work on every project will be completed in a safe, efficient manner. Our futures are only built through our people. Our aim is to protect them..
Safety and Health Objectives
ONYX Construction achieves worker safety and health through the following:

Job Site Inspections
